My life as a work from home wife

Being a wife of a husband who travels a lot for a living is not easy. I used to be a corporate girl, but when I got married, it got to a point when it became difficult for us to constantly live in different cities.

I had to make that bold move to leave the job that I enjoyed, and venture into the world of online contracting.

For me, it was a win-win – I get to earn, while working from home (not to mention start my own blog site), and travel where ever my husband goes, and see different parts of this beautiful island called the Philippines.

Below are just some of the things that I’ve learned in just 6 months of working from home:

  1. Understand Philippine geography. Believe it or not, I used to not know where the different cities in the Mindanao area are. I was geographically challenged, until I land travel to places where my husband is assigned to work. Thank you Google Maps!
  2. Learn how to cook. I have never cooked a dish in my entire life until I got married. No. I take that back. Before I resigned from the corporate world. And so I learned that a husband with a happy tummy is a happy husband! 🙂
  3. Be a better multi-tasker. As a home-based worker, I’ve learned that there are a lot of distractions at home. From TV, to food, and most especially household chores. Probably because of my OC personality,  I ensure my calendar is plotted for the week, and follow them to the letter. What’s great about working from home is you have flexible hours so you can fit other activities in between your work tasks.
